Literature Text

For so long, the dark elves remained on their side of the Alahazar Mountains, living in relevant peace, but the strict trading rules the humans and the Coronan Elves set, drove them out of their senses and war started in the once innocuous land of Sakasaraka. Follow four people before, during, and after the titanic event foretold as Paneja.

Ariana

... In a particularly popular pub, the excitement of the night had just begun to wax. The potent effect of either too much ale, or prolonged exposure to pipe-smoke (or both) lowered the inhibitions of many people. The band had finished setting up and began a jaunty tune in no time, with a rather skilled bard working his magic. Amid all the livery and dancing sat a solitary figure alone at a small table, with half a glass of vintage wine within reach and a smoke-pipe in mouth. The person wore a thick brown travelling cloak, the fabric showing many signs of use and battle, the cloak torn and dirt stained from the trail. With the cowl of the cloak up high masking the face and a leg resting casually on the small table, the figure had attracted the attention of several of the bouncers, some curious and others nervous. A faint glimmer of the eyes seen whenever the pipe was smoked, this person had nonchalantly made all of the guards on edge...

Drazz

...Drazz had just pulled his knife out to finish the murderer when the man suddenly vanished, it was then that Drazz realized that Ariana didn't have the time to use the wand to stop any enchantments. He slammed his fist into the floor where the man had been, and spat on it for good measure. Drazz was over to where Ariana lay in two strides, checking the wound to make sure it wasn't as bad as he thought. It was worse than that, the bolt had some sort of poison to it, for the blood around the wound had congealed quickly, if the poison were to reach her heart...

Drazz! Get her out of there quick! You have company! One of the twins imparted.

I can't move her, she's been poisoned, her blood is congealing...I don't know any way to save her.

"What have you done, follower or Irofiha!?." came a sudden melodious voice, quavering in rage.

Drazz  looked up from Ariana's body to see another female elf, and this one had a just launched a spell at him.

Before he could even comprehend who, how, and why the elf was there, Drazz was hit with the arc of energy, the spell wreaking havoc with his nerves. He barely even felt the feel of the expensive window shatter as his body was shot out into the street. In a few skittish heartbeats, Drazz hit his head hard on the cobblestones, the rising blackness a comfort from the pain of the spell...

Daimon

...Daimon slipped out of the chair that he was occupying and chased after the insect, treading down the stairs to see it flying through the open forge-room door, Lidion had forgotten to close it. Daimon walked through the entryway into the cooling room to see another door, well hidden were it not open, behind the furnace. A door which was letting the gentle snow in to melt into a puddle on the warm flagstones. Through that door, Daimon watched the moth go, and see it turn unerringly to the right. This moth had definitely piqued the child's mind as he followed its path out the door and to the right. He turned directly into an alleyway, the foreboding darkness not hindering the child fixated on the strange creature...

Ain

..."You forget yourself, Counsellor Ain, What of Calenost? A whole continent that has been swallowed up by the Drow Legion." the man continued, establishing himself as Ain's opposition.

"Calenost has always been common ground, both the Coronans and the Drow shared that continent. Conflict was inevitable. Besides, we all know what lies beyond the Great Southern Sea." Ain said, leaving the word they all knew palpable in the air.

"Horde." someone in the crowd answered, drawing murmurs of  agreement from all across the lobby.

"Is it true? Have they joined the Drow?" a concerned advocate asked.

"Not all of them, I-" the first man began.

"We have not received any official evidence on that topic, and our embassy within the Hive still stands, as a testament to that fact." Ain cut off the man, to stop the meeting from breaking out into chaos again.

"Aye, that is true, but we only have an embassy with Sthlasara's Hive, and there are more, many more in the desert of Ieool."

"Could we possibly recruit her?" someone quietly suggested.

Ain's opposition burst out laughing,

"Recruit...one...of the Horde!?" he said between chuckles, that no-one else shared, "Do you have any idea how long it took for communications with Sthlasara to be civil? Two hundred years, and she was one of the nicer Queens."

"It might just have to be an option, that's what we're here for Veneir; options." Ain responded.

"Those...bugs won't listen to a request like that, you'll get no help, it's suicidal." Veneir replied.

"As I said; options." Ain repeated.

"Sure, I see no reason to be this desperate, the Drow are not attacking." Veneir chortled.

"Our scouts report that the Drow Legion have mobilized for an attack on Mulyn."

The meeting room was incredibly silent for a few tense moments as everyone digested this news...
